This pics are for my portraiture class. We have to create a web gallery with at least 15 shots, including head and shoulders frontal view, 2/3 and profile as well as full length and 3/4 length.
I'm using a 4 light setup, main, fill, background and separation.

I'm so sorry I haven't uploaded anything lately, but summer has been really busy for me.
Anyway, I've done a lot of shooting and have lots of photos to upload, I hope to do it within the next 2 weeks.
Well, I was sitting having a nice conversation with some friends in Kramer Pond Lodge when I saw this shot. I like the idea because of the textures. The wood of course was not green, that was photoshoped.

My Liberty
Nevado de Toluca, Mexico

I took this photo back in February 2007. It's one of my favorites of all times, maybe because I was looking for it for so long.
It was taken in the Nevado de Toluca volcano, in Mexico, near the crater, where there's snow in winter. I had to go there three times before being able to get the shot with a blue sky, the previous times was too cloudy for what I wanted.
Anyway, for some reason I remembered I had this photo and I hadn't shared it with you. I used a polarized filter, which works as sunglasses for the lens of the camera, reducing the glare from the sun, although as you can see, there is still some.

I went back to Mexico in December for the Xmas break. Being there I went to this little town that I love called Tequisquiapan. It's a 2 hour drive from Mexico City, but it's totally worth it.I took many photos there, including this one, which became my favorite although I was having a little bit of difficulty making it look the way I wanted.
A lot of the times you see the shot and the camera doesn't capture it the way you saw it, simple, your eyes filter a lot of information and let you see just what you want. In those cases the camera is capturing more than what you are actually seeing.
When I saw this shot it wasn't really the way I remembered; So, I decided to experiment a little with textures.
I'm posting a before and after of this shot in the gallery, so you can see the difference. Let me explain some of the differences.
1. The texture of course. I'm using a mask to reveal it just where I want to, the main subject doesn't have any texture.
2. Hue and Saturation. The finished version is less saturated and the hue is not as orange.
3. Some highlight elements in the background were clone out.
4. The background is darker, I mean the stores behind the subject.
5. The contrast.
6. The edge and signature.

Victoria School Grad
Class 2008

The Class 2008 of Victoria School graduated and they wanted something different. So, they got a red carpet right at the entrance of their hall and got some photographers to act as papparazzi, taking photos of all the people that walk in there.
Here are some of my photos, all of them were taken with flash on camera at different shutter speeds and apertures.

I wanted to practice a bit more with the prophoto kit on location, to get more familiar with it, of course portraits was one of the best ways of doing it.
A good friend of mine, Athena, helped me with this. I set up a main light on her right side and a fill in front of her.

In one of the make up sessions I did for Salima Hirani, Robyn took her son Austen with her, in one of the breaks Austen was looking at the lighting and was kind of curious about what was going on, so, I asked him if he would like some photos with his mom, of course he said yes.
Working with children can be tricky, but been with mom and playing was a nice way of getting these shots.

In that same session we tried different shots, the idea was to create a magazine ad of a shoe, in the previous shots the shoe was going to be added later in photoshop, but I wanted to tried something where the shoe was already included.
For these photos I altered the color a bit to make it look different.

The semester is finally over. It was really hard, full of all sort of assignments and some other activities that I decided to get enrolled in.
I still have a lot of photos that I couldn't publish during the last month because of the deadline of major projects, but I wanted to publish this session before all those since it was the last one shot in studio, at least until I go back to classes, in september.
I wanted to try something with a feel of glamour in a clean white background. So, I asked Maria to be my model for this session and Salima to help me with the make up.
I don't know you, but I love the result.
